Local Fundraisers Wanted! Deadline March 14, 2013.
Each May AG Foods™ stores participate in our Community Rewards program supporting fund raising projects that are community based. We advertise a range of supporting products in our Community Rewards Super Saver Booklet and for each product sold we give 10¢ to community groups. These donations are made possible by generous commitments from our vendors.
Along with these donations,we’ll be sponsoring 4 hot dog day sales where all proceeds will be donated directly to the participating community group. The winning group will need to provide their own Bar B Q and volunteers and have the sale for a minimum of 4 hours on May 11, 18, 25 and June 1st. Last year’s group raised almost $1700!! This is an amazing opportunity for one lucky recreation group, club, school or instituition. Applications can be had in store or you can email the Groups’ name, contact info (including the person acting as liason) and a brief statement explaining what the funds are for.
AG Foods™ stores have raised over $925,000.00 since this program first began, which has gone directly back into our communities for initiatives ranging from schools, playgrounds, historic sites, parks, community beautification projects, sport teams, community recreation arena’s, seniors programs, youth programs and a whole range other worthwhile community initiatives. We are proud of the support we have given back to our communities.
Farewell to 2012! Hello 2013!
We had quite a year at Country Food Mart in 2012. Thanks to your continued support we were able to celebrate one of our best year’s since we opened in 1984. We’re always so grateful for your custom, whether it be for some milk and a paper or to fill your grocery cart…every time you brighten our door you help us to employ your neighbours and donate to local charities.
This year we helped the Sheep River Clean Up group with their food and drinks for volunteers and we supported the High Country Band Parents Association with our Community Rewards Program, we supported the local food bank all year long, and we gave Turner Valley and Black Diamond Kindergarten kids free library memberships to install a love of reading in the Diamond Valley’s littlest readers. And we couldn’t do it without our wonderful customer’s support day in and day out. No matter what the weather, you’re always there…keeping us busy and making everyday a new challenge.
In 2012 we said farewell to our longtime butcher Carol and we welcomed her replacement Keith to our Country Food Mart family. We saw some of our student employees graduate from the local high school and move onto higher education and new adventures and in their place we welcomed some new youth into the fold.
Our outdoor summer markets were a big success and we had so much fun putting the great deals and fresh produce together. A big “Merci” to everyone who stopped in for all the great bargains…it was something we look forward to doing every year from now on.
Our goals for the next year are to search out more locally made products and to serve up even more smiles than we did in 2012!
Let us wrap up our last blog post of the year by wishing all of our friends, family, vendors and fellow Ag stores, a very happy 2013. See you next year!
Local Winter Produce
It may be winter here in Alberta’s foothills, yet we are happy to say that we are still able to provide you with some locally grown produce! We have Red Onions and delicious Beefsteak and Cherry Tomatoes courtesy of Broxburn Farm (Lethbridge), Vine Tomatoes from Red Hat Greenhouses (Red Cliff), and Russet & Red Potatoes from Bassano. A little further afield, but still Canadian, our Apples, Beets, Cabbage, Carrots, Squash and Turnips are also grown in western Canada. Show your support for our farmers and retailers by purchasing Canadian produce all year long!
